It would never be seen in Washington, London, Paris, New Delhi, even in various parts of Pakistan but it is happening in Karachi. A commercial hub of the country, which generates revenues to steer the country. Where the essential need of the life is water is commercially selling out by the influential culprits and the citizens of Karachi are compel to purchase water on heavy cost, bearing other taxes and expenses.
In this context, I am worried, how many more years the residents of Karachi would purchase potable water for their daily uses, while unabated illegal water selling is continued from the Tanker Mafia since a long time in Karachi. Similarly, illegal hydrants and tankers owned by the highly police officials are running openly and cleverly evade millions of rupees taxes, thereby national exchequer is getting loss of billions rupees in this regard. The other side residents of Karachi have to pay water bills every month instead of purchasing water and brunt the taxes as well.
It is also notable that due to the recent rains, the water level in the hub dam is very high. While, the "Tanker Mafia" selling out the water to the residents of Karachi rupees thirty two million seven hundred nine thousand on every day and Rupees One Billion on every month.
With every passing day the condition of the city is getting worst and the recent rains havoc the entire city. If the government is unable to provide citizens the necessity of life, it is up to the people to take matters into their own hands. Protests against every mafia based in this city be ramped up to exert pressure on the government.
It is quite ridiculous that millions of people have to suffer from the illegal practices carried out by a handful mafia and few powerful men. It is the need of the hour to develop or design a pivotal and comprehensive strategy by the civic think tanks to avert the people by these miserable conditions.
