Science, Technology, Secularism And Islam (1)

Mr. Dr. Khalid Awan lives in Virginia State. He has a deep study of Hadith and Islamic sciences and is well aware of contemporary sciences and modern trends while living in America. Majlis-e-Dars is held every week with them, highly educated people from different fields participate in it. So I always keep in touch with them and use them and also convey some information to the readers.

For a long time, a class of religiously minded educated scholars has been promoting a thought and they also quote some Western philosophers and scholars in support of their position. The summary of this thought is: "The components of Western civilization or Western lifestyle are secularism, liberalism, industrialism, science and technology, etc". I do not doubt their sincerity, but it gives the impression: "Science and technology and secularism and liberalism are indispensable".

These men are researchers of contemporary sciences and are so consistent in their thinking that they are not satisfied with the thinking and behavior of many men working in the field of religion. These scholars give the impression that science and technology are not a guarantee of dominance in the world, otherwise, according to them, America would not have been defeated in Afghanistan. According to them, this is the defeat of science and technology against the spirit of faith and the spirit of jihad, so it is proved that science and technology and worldly domination are not necessary.

Dr. Javed Akbar Ansari, Dr. Khalid Jami and their like-minded scholars are advocates of this concern. Philosophers with such differences in ideas are found everywhere in America and the West. According to these gentlemen, there is a western conspiracy behind the polio and corona vaccine campaigns etc. They also consider the existing forms of Islamic banking or Islamic financing as a form of usury, but do not provide an alternative economic structure. They do not even realize the fact that we have made a revolution, nor do we have any signs of a revolution to uproot the current system and establish a new pure Islamic system.

We still do not have such leadership or such conditions. It is our obligation to create a space for achieving good while living within an ongoing system. Of course, there is no total good in it, but should even a small amount of good be called good, so this is the real confusion and complexity. These men consider those who take advantage of the available good to be expedient, lack courage and compromise. A scholar quoted the words of a scholar: "Leaving a few good things is also a lot of evil".

We believe that democracy is secular in terms of its instinct and basic structure. Consensus or majority opinion is decisive in deciding what is good or bad. It is not a condition for right opinion. We understand the meaning of action. Our constitutional structure is also that we should try to create as much scope for Islam as possible because we are not able to change the system.

In our opinion, America and its allies in Afghanistan were not defeated on the battlefield, but they failed to achieve their goals. Buria went bankrupt and his invested capital of around two and a half thousand billion dollars went in vain. The structure of the local army and puppet government that he had created to run Afghanistan "could not withstand the Taliban's invasion", but instead he sent a large number of Afghans associated with his local aides and espionage networks to the US and Europe. Permanent shelter had to be given.

In fact, American soldiers in Vietnam or Afghanistan did not have any religious or moral justification to become the fuel of war. They were not fighting for the security or defense of their country, but these wars were for expansionism and bringing the world under their influence. So, despite leaving Afghanistan, the world has not been saved from their political and economic domination. Isn't the ineffectiveness of two and a half billion Muslims and fifty-seven Muslim countries for the protection of the Palestinians a clear argument? "Isn't Iraq, Syria and Lebanon suffering from defeat and defeat?" Yemen is not suffering from division, forcing Sudan and Indonesia. Two Christian countries were not established.

Taiwan may not be able to stay in front of China even for an hour, but it is still an independent country under the American umbrella. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the Russian Federation has taken over, but is still far from becoming a parallel superpower, so it is embroiled in the war in Ukraine.

China is undoubtedly developing economically, but is not yet in a position to challenge Western hegemony. Therefore, he is trying to avoid direct confrontation with America and the West. But China or Russia have a cultural clash with America and the West, nor are they alienated from science and technology and hoping for any success, science and technology are the ladder of their development. It is also not correct to say that the Afghans defeated the US and its allies without the use of technology, although the standards of victory and defeat are also their own. But the Afghan mujahideen fighting guerilla warfare used the same available technology in suicide or remote-controlled attacks, not that they overtook them by studying them. However, this is certain: if the power of faith is strong along with the external reasons, then there is definitely this promise in the Holy Qur'an: "If twenty of you are patient, you will overcome two hundred and if there are a hundred of you (patient). If they do, they will overcome a thousand" (Al-Anfal: 65).

That is, even if there is a ratio of one to ten, the right prevails. Then Allah the Exalted Himself said: "Now Allah has reduced it for you and He knows that there is weakness in you". If a thousand are patient, they will overcome two thousand" (Al-Anfal: 66). In other words, Allah Almighty determined the ratio of one and two in view of the weakness of the Muslims. But it is nowhere that the Muslims jump blindly into the field without looking at the available means, but on the contrary, he said: "And (O Muslims!) as much as you can" to compete with your enemies. (Harbi) strength and ready (for battle) harnessed horses" (Al-Anfal: 60).

It is also in the Holy Hadith: "He said three times: Listen! Power is the name of (the ability to throw)" (Muslim: 1917). Rocket technology is also the most advanced form of "Rami" with this technology, the people of the West have reached the moon and other planets, their satellites (artificial satellites) are suspended in space, and all their latest information and military computerized systems. It is controlled by these planets.
